For all of us ready to embark on writing an article for our newsletter or maybe starting a professional doctorate, I have a few tools that might come in handy. The app that has really helped me is PDF Expert which allows you to make notes in a PDF file on your iPad and save it in your dropbox. With DocsToGo you can change and save word documents on your iPad. If you encounter problems managing the time you set aside for your writing, I can recommend sites such as ganttchart.com and mindtools.com.
criticalthinking.org provides excellent resources to facilitate critical thinking and www.vitae.ac.uk gives resources on personal development planning. What are your golden tips for writing articles and papers?
Mmm. I don’t think I have any golden tips at the moment, but I don’t want that to prevent me from thanking Barbara for those excellent tips and posing a question that is related to writing, if only indirectly.
Has anyone tips for keeping track of articles and messages? I use Gmail and PC Word 7 and have a terrible time finding what someone most pertinently wrote (somewhere) last week or even locating an article just downloaded from the Internet.
Hi Barbara & Dennis
Right now, I’m using Evernote to gather and organise notes and snippets from the web. It’s easily searchable, which makes finding stuff easy.
I’ve just started using Asana for project management and to-do lists; my initial impression is good. Has some similar features to Basecamp, which I used in the past, but allows multiple projects on the free plan. You can invite multiple users to join you on projects, making it ideal for collaboration (although I haven’t yet tested out this feature).
I would be interested to know about any other tools people are using. What about administrative apps? Is anyone using software to keep track of students, grades, etc.?
That’s a very correct assessment for education, while in foreign language learning, you cannot even train. One can provide training exercises, but it is the learne rhimslef who trains himself with some effort. Thank you for this insight.
